2. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website saves on your phone, tablet or computer. Think of it as a cloakroom ticket: it lets the site recognise your device when you come back, without knowing who you are.
Some cookies are needed for the site to work at all. Others help us understand how the site is used, or help us show our adverts to people likely to find them useful. This policy also covers similar technologies that work the same way, such as browser storage and tracking pixels in our emails.
Cookies set by aspiretobe.co.uk are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company's service on our site, such as Google or Meta, are called third-party cookies.
3. How we ask for your consent
We ask before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary, wherever you are visiting from. UK law now lets some sites run basic analytics without asking. We ask anyway, so every visitor gets the same clear choice.
When you first visit, a banner gives you three options:
Accept all — allow analytics and marketing cookies.
Decline all — allow only the strictly necessary cookies.
Manage cookies — choose analytics and marketing separately.
Until you choose, only strictly necessary cookies are set. Declining is as easy as accepting, and the site works fully either way. We remember your choice for 30 days, then ask again.
Our legal basis. Strictly necessary cookies do not need consent under UK and EU cookie law, because the site cannot work without them; where they involve personal data, we rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website. For analytics and marketing cookies, we rely on your consent.
4. Changing your mind
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.
On our site: click Cookie preferences at the bottom of any page. The banner reopens and you can switch categories on or off.
In your browser: you can view and delete cookies in your browser settings. Guidance for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge.
For Google Analytics on every site: Google offers a browser add-on that stops it collecting data about you.
Withdrawing consent stops cookies being set from then on. It does not affect anything collected while your consent was in place. If you block strictly necessary cookies in your browser, parts of the site, such as booking a call, may not work.
5. The cookies we use
We group our cookies into three types: strictly necessary, analytics and marketing. Durations are the longest a cookie lasts; your browser may delete it sooner. "Browser storage" means the item is kept in your browser's local storage rather than as a cookie, and stays until you clear it.
5.1 Strictly necessary — always on
Legal basis for every item in this table: strictly necessary for the site to work, so no consent is needed. These cannot be switched off on our site.

5.4 Booking with Calendly
If you open our Calendly booking page, Calendly sets a session cookie (__calendly_session) to keep your booking on track. This ends when you close your browser. Calendly shows its own cookie choices for any other cookies it uses. See Calendly's cookie information.
5.5 Our emails
If you join our mailing list, our emails, sent through Squarespace Email Campaigns, contain a tiny image and tracked links. These tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so we can send more useful emails. We explain this when you sign up. You can stop it by turning off images in your email app, or by unsubscribing using the link in every email.
6. Companies that receive data through our cookies
We never sell your personal information. The companies below receive data through the cookies listed above. Squarespace, Acuity and Google Analytics work on our behalf. Meta, LinkedIn and Calendly also use the data for their own purposes, under their own privacy policies.

7. Data sent outside the UK and EEA
Some of the companies above are based in the United States, or store data there. This means information collected through our cookies may leave the UK and the European Economic Area.
When it does, it is protected by a recognised legal safeguard:
From the UK: the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (the "UK–US data bridge"), where the company is certified to it; otherwise the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
From the EEA: the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where the company is certified to it; otherwise the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
If any of these safeguards changes, we will rely on another lawful one and update this policy. You can ask us for more detail about the safeguard covering a particular company.
8. Your rights
If you are in the UK or EEA, data protection law (the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR) gives you the right to:
withdraw your consent at any time (see section 4)
ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete
ask us to delete your data
ask us to limit how we use your data, or object to us using it
ask for your data in a format you can take to another organisation
Cookie data is often linked to a device rather than a name, so we may not be able to find information about you from your request alone. If so, we will tell you, and explain what else might help.
To use any of these rights, email [privacy email address]. It costs nothing, and we will reply within one month.
If you are in the United States, some states, including California, give you the right to know what personal information is collected, to ask for it to be deleted, and to opt out of it being shared for targeted advertising. Our marketing cookies only load if you accept them, so choosing Decline all, or switching them off in Cookie preferences, opts you out.
Wherever you are, you get the same choices as every other visitor.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first at michael.ellisbailey@aspiretobe.co.uk and we will try to put it right. You can also complain to the regulator:
UK: the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
EEA: the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when we add or remove a service that uses cookies, or when the law changes. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change affects what you agreed to, we will ask for your consent again through the banner.
For how we handle personal information more widely, see our Privacy Policy. For the rules of using this site, see our Terms of Service.
